WebCid's character just needs to be handled with care. They can't strip back his bitterness and anger completely without turning him into a different character. But they can (and probably should) redirect that anger so that his sole target isn't Shera. I see a modern Cid being more bitter and angry at the world and everyone in it, including himself.
